Welcome! What a great picture! This is probably another that will look puuuurrrrrfect with just some minor tweaking and nothing else. :-)

my try. It's not that different. Just blurred something in the background, darkened it a tiny bit, and did th watercolors effect.

I really liked his eyes, and since there is not much datail in his fur around his eyes, I decided to down play it. I am at work and using Paint Shop Pro 6 so my commands may not be the same as PhotoShop, and definately more primative.

1. created a new layer as a copy of the background.

2. Used the retouch tool to desaturate the new layer

3. on the background I again used the retouch tool but this time I increased the saturation on the eyes.

4. applied the sharp filter to the background

5. on the top (black and white layer) I created a mask and painted over the eyes to make them visible.

6. the eyes didn't stand out enough for me so I applied the blur filter to the top layer.

It's starting to look like the Blair Kitty Project.

Blair Kitty Project, you're right! Here's my "eye"dea done in Photo House - very wizard-based, inflexible software. Not well-executed. But you get the idea. :-)

No time to fiddle, but this is a photo that, to my eye, should have little more done to it than bringing the cat's pupils back to black. Anything else degrades a nearly perfect image.

sammy, welcome! This is a nice treatment to the photo.

In some instances in this challenge I agree with Barb. But I also really like what's been done to this one. cats are such a great subject to play with, in real life and in film! :-)
