Iacopo, your makeover really enhances my memory of the occasion, because it recreates the swirl of red kites. They seemed initially to be moving randomly, but in fact were circling ready to swoop, scattering the fearless, grounded, gorging crows, and grab a piece of meat, which they'd toss in the air and then swallow. This swirl is clearly apparent in my camcorder footage, but I can't as yet hang that on the wall too easily.

Thanks, everybody, for all the contributions, here and in "Birds 2", which more than met the challenge of taking a couple of weedy shots and making them memorable.

I like this part of the photo personally, for a plain crop. Some might say that the trees take away from the birds. But I think it kinda frames them well. Though the earlier crop is also good I think.
