I posted this picture in the Close-Up forum as a "What is it?" shot. I know I said I wasn't going to participate here but I "lied??"

If you know what this is, pretend you don't. If you don't know what it is, that's even better. Have at it...

Cal, glad to see you here! I agree with Pierre on my guess. And if I weren't feeling soooo fried today, I'd give it a go right now. As I can't even type right now I'm going to have to save this one for tomorrow or watch what others do to it. It's a nice photo to start - those are usually the best to play with! :-)
