I'm pretty new at digital photography and only found this site last week. Today I found the perfect opportunity for the photo challenge. This was taken at the MX Races today in Brandenburg, KY. This particular rider was a freestyle rider. He was a couple of stories high. I appreciate any and all constructive criticism. Thanks

GREAT action in this shot!

love it.

looks like it could be sharper...whether it be in Photoshop or a faster shutter speed....

well done on the capture!

This is a great stop-action! You say he's a couple stories high... I would have liked to have seen a point of reference included in here - perhaps soemthing in the background to add to the height/derring-do of this rider. Really nice, tho!

Thanks. Here's the original picture, before cropping. If you notice the street lights in the lower left hand corner and the top of the trees in the background.

The action was awesome and in many cases a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case a picture doesn't even come close to showing the talent and guts it must have taken to do some of the things they were doing!

I've heard that a good photo editing application is the equivalent of a dark room. So I finally decided to take the big plunge and attempt to edit the image. Is there some secret I'm missing?Everything I did looked awful!

Photo editing just takes a bit of practice... I tend to avoid it, but if I take a photo I just can't live without and it's got a problem, I give it a go...
Here's your photo with a bit of contrast adjustment, saturation and sharpening... It's more difficult to work with compressed jpgs, so if you make these kinds of adjustments on the original, it should look even better.

I love the photo! It shows creativity on the riders part. Did he or she get to see the photo? If you have access to them people like that usually really appreciate photos like that because they can't get them or don't have anyone to take them for them. A little editing helps too.

Nice job!
