I know this is off-topic but I want to share my excitement with the forum.

I just got in from a quick shoot of the Northern Lights as seen from light-polluted Buffalo, NY. The FZ20 did pretty well, I tried to keep the noise down and shot in ISO 200 with standard in-camera noise reduction and f2.8 at 8s. I had a hard time focusing manually but got pretty close and can't blame the camera in that regard. Here are four quickly-processed images, better attempts will be posted to my PBase account.

Did anyone else see them? It was just my second time, the first was at Algonquin Park in Ontario and they were just grayish so I was thrilled to see greens and reds, especially down here in the city.

Nice job Mike,
It isn't off topic, they are fall colors.:-). Thanks for sharing, they might be a little noisy, but you got 'em and i didn't, me being at work without a camera. I checked out some of your other galleries and you have some great shots in there, keep them coming.

Good shot!

I got to see them for a few minutes around 20:30 when the sky cleared for a little while. It is now snowing :sad:I'm about 2 hours south of Algonquin park.

The bit of aurora I got to see was a fat greenish band that stretched right across the sky.

Nice shot and definitely a sign of the season....not off topic at all. I've never seen the Aurora but I do live near Aurora, IL where Wayne and Garth were supposedly from.....

Eh, maybe I've listened to a little too much Pink Floyd over the years/......

Thanks for your comments, everyone. I have updated my PBase gallery with a final set of 9 images, properly enhanced and noise-reduced using NeatImage. Please feel free to leave further comments or suggestions.
