I've always wanted to have a go at these, so I put the new camera to the test when I got it. Physiogams are nothing more than painting with light. So you can write your name with a torch or suspend a laser light from the ceiling like I have here.
They're only tests. You can tell that from the third one where you can see the tripod leg. For the second and third I attached a small glass bottle to give me random lines. I'm going to see if I can get hold of a white laser and use sweet wrappers as filters to change the colour. I tried a torch and it didn't work very well.

I long bit of tape hanging from the ceiling with a laser light hanging from it. A £2 was taped to the light to hold down the button. Set the camera to 3.4 and 30s. Swing the light and when it starts to look like it's moving in a circle press the shutter.

I had a similar idea playing with my cat last night. I was going to have a slight variation on your idea though. I was going to use a crystal vase and shine the laser pointer through it. Maybe tonight I'll have some time to play.

Very Ferny. Somewhere Tom Overton posted a link to one Picasso did, I think it's somewhere down the list in Other Photos. Cool idea and execution.

Edit: Here is the link to the Picasso thing, it doesn't seem to be working at the moment, but it might later. http://www.lacc.cc.ca.us/~auerbala/long.html
