This is the parapet wall of the house diagonally opposite mine, lit by sodium vapour street lamp, around 10 p.m.

I am curious what your white balance setting was. I suspect it was set for bright sunlight. If you try setting it for incandescent, it might soften the harsh yellow color a bit. I know that sodium vapor lamps emit an orange colored light but a WB setting of sunlight will make the image even more orange colored.

Having said that, I like the composition. You say that's a house. It looks more like a church. There appears to be a cross visible in the center of the picture. Perhaps it is just an optical illusion.

Thanks, Cal. The white balance was on auto mode. I have not matured enough to change such intricate settings yet. I will try.
