I found this pigeon in the park who had lost its head.

I have no idea what would do that to a pigeon and leave it mostly intact otherwise. Could have been a hawk or perhaps a fox, but more likely a cat or a dog. I think probably a dog that just snapped at it and took its head off.

I wouldn't normally have taken this shot, it's fairly gross, but then I remembered this Photo Challenge.

So here it is..

This challenge seems to be attracting disturbing and graphic photos. However, as another member stated, photography is not all beautiful sunrises and shots of the family dog. Did you catch my shots of the dead crabs and dead seal on the beach? Your photo, though disturbing, fits the definition of the challenge perfectly.

Cal,

I guess dead things are "discarded" in a sense. Good photos aren't always just about technical excellence. When I came across this I found it disturbing as I'm sure you did with the seal, but if the photos elicit the same reaction in the viewer then they've worked.

The world indeed isn't always a warm and fuzzy place.

Regards,
Craig

I wish I'd taken a photo of that dead wombat I saw at the side of the road last week now

I *FOUND* this important & relevant document recently in a second-hand bookshop in Wrexham, NE Wales.

Ozzy = Most famous for biting heads off bats & birds.

As long as you're posting dead animals you found...I found this dead Coyote down on the in-laws farm a couple weeks ago.
