Very nice work. Personally would probably have cropped a tad of the blank space on the right.

Nice - Shadow is quite striking. I don't think any more crop is required - your eye is instantly drawn to the bottle.

Great shot. I am curious how you got the lighter shadow. It almost looks like it might be a negative image.

(a few minutes later--before posting) I just copied the image and opened it in PSP. I applied the negative image filter and, voila, the real image answered my question.

The negative image is much stronger than the positive. Well done.

Thanks alot everyone for responses, i wasnt sure what people would think about this. I thought it was pretty interesting and was looking forward to other peoples input. I only took 2 pics of this and started playing in photoshop and virtual photographer plugin which I learned about from Nicktrop from this board. I really likethe plugin its free and great for b/w's. This is the shoebox setting in bw which as calr stated is a negative filter effect. I used auto levels before VP and sharpened after. The print looksevenbetter, i upped the dpi to 300 and resharpened before printing, the text is nice and sharp you can easily read all of the print and the bottle stands out great nice contrast. I was really happy with this effect I am looking forward to experimenting with different lighting and what not, i havent gotta chance to experiment much yet. Any different ideas to try would be great to hear.

Best regards,

Mag

very cool

is this a negative image? (like, inverted colors and stuff?) or is that just the light shining through the bottle being focused (like a magnifying glass) on that spot?

either way, very cool...

i think you could get away with cropping just to the right of the bottle...
