This tree is about 15-20 feet in circumference and "leaned" over me as it rose. I turned the camera and shot up the trunk so that the right side of the tree was parallel to the top of the frame.

"what kind of tree is this?"

I hate to admit that I don't know, Vito, especially since I grew up in the country. This is the largest tree I've ever seen in this area (central Arkansas) although it's about 30 miles from the woods and fields I roamed as a youngster. The bark is more pronounced than anything I've ever seen. I assume this is because of its age. Some of the smaller trees around it had put on leaves, but it was still bare when I took this pic. I'll go back soon and determine what it is because I've been curious myself.
