I really like this shot. I have been studying it to try to figure out how it was done. The shadows of the vine are soft indicating a large light source such as an umbrella or box light. The edges of the shadows seem to have a green tint. I don't know if there was some green in the tree bark or maybe another green colored light source. Maybe the leaves were translucent enough that some of the green color came through.

The out of focus leaves at the top add to the appeal of this shot.

Score 9 out of 10.

Yes, this is a great photo. The leaf patterns on the trunk make the entire picture simply scream TREE!!!

I've seen that sort of effect when strong sunlight shoots down through leaves, so the photographer may simply have come across the scene and thought, "Wow!"

Like the idea behind this picture, but they could lose the green at the top.

i love this one!

the only thing that 'might' make this better...is MORE green...

as long as the green wouldn't interfere with the shadows...

Shadows? Nah, some creative person came along and painted or screened the leaves on the trunk. Ok imagination running away yet again.

I really like this, the shading in the shadows 'looks' like painting, maybe they're ghostings, whatever, I think this is very cool.

This picture is beautiful. If I'm not mistaken, the green is actually leaves that are blurred because they are closer to the lens. I've made this mistake with my telephoto but then it threw off the depth of field. So I'm not sure.

I think the green is just the right touch. The shadows insinuate illusion in this picture, and the green acts as a bridge crossing illusion into reality. Bringing them together into one. Absolutely beautiful, mistake or not.

This maybe my favorite. It makes a strong impression.

I think the idea is very nice and Plain Jane made a great comment on it.

I just feel however the idea is not completly exploited somehow.

I don't know exactly, may the shot is too tight cropped around the tree, maybe a landscape layout full of black and blurred leaves with this tree at 1/3 would have enforced the idea. I don't know, just thinking loudly !
