I like this picture. I hope the original is sharper than the jpeg web image. Although it is a silhouette, there is some light in the foreground, possibly from a flash that was not bright enough to reach the tree. I think it might have been better if the tree were not centered. The rule of thirds might well be applied here.

I give this a 9 on my 10 point rating scale.

So far it seems only you and I, Cal, are willing to shoot off our mouths about these pictures.

I agree with you about the centering on this tree. I also would like it better if it were off center andhad more space around it.

My other favorite.I love the look of the tree and that it looks like a storm is coming.

it's a bit tight on the tree (clipped some branches) and it's looking pretty grainy..

i like the idea though..silhouetted tree in front of a stormy (purplish-blue) sky...

the bit of flash is a cool touch also, throwing a bit of green into the mix...

Agree with above about the tree being centered and the crop is awfully tight. The thing I like best is the subtle coloration in the sky behind the tree. Given the colors of the sky I think a different perspective or crop could have made this very good.

I'm not fond of this one. It is very flat. My preference leans toward pictures that have a more three-dimensional feel but that is simply a preference.

I like shadow pictures, which is what this reminds me of,but if you are going to go with a shadow, I think it looks better to take a picture of the shadow of the tree on something without the tree actually being in the picture. Or take it with the shadow off the side of the tree. But of course this may not have been an option here.Silhouetteor Shadow? I can't tell what they were trying toget meto see.

Just not my type.

Hope that wasn't too rough…

not my type of shot, I see some noise in it that does not do anything for the shot.

I doubt there was noise in the original. Perhaps grain, but even this is doubtful. Any noise is the fault of having had to scan the picture into my computer.

That said, I agree with you.I find thepicture extremely static.
