The apparent size of this reminds me of the walking trees in Lord of the Rings. You weren't pretending to be a Hobbit were you? Nice shot regardless. I have moss like that growing on some of the projects I should be doing around the house vs web surfng.

I disagree with you, Vito, but only in this sense: I think that even MORE darkness, a kind of shading at the top angling down from the right corner, would further amplify that fascinating tree base.

A really wonderful shot, Selvin, of an equally wonderful tree.

I've been told again and again that New Zealand is one of the most beautiful and photogenic places in the world. Did you find this to be true?

Beautiful shot, Selvin. We have a lot of moss covered trees similar to that here in the Pacific Northwest. I have photographed a few but none of my shots are as good as this one.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

On our trip to New Zealand we were tempted to trace the Hobbit experience but time wouldn't permit. They are trying to captialize on the Hobbit adventures quite a bit. Lots of tours offering the ultimate "Rings" experience.

Barbara,

Even for someone from a "tropical paradise" the scenery in New Zealand just blows you away. You can see some of the hundreds of pictures we took at:

It makes me want to pack my bags right now. It looks so absolutely wild and gentle all at the same time. (Really liked the seal napping on the rock.:-))

Lovely tree Selvin, and those greens are gorgeous.
