Cool (hot?) photo showing symbolic, ritualistic behavior that's so much a part of human life.

Maybe I'm getting to old but I don't get the point of this photo and what it has to do with burning bridges, symbolic or otherwise. The message is not coming through to me.

Take a letter, say, from a person with whom a friendship has been damaged, and set the letter on fire. Burn the letter, burn the bridge to that friendship.

OK, I see it now. It was the object in the upper right corner that I couldn't figure out. I couldn't tell what it was.

Now see, I thought the hole and the lines would be a dead give away. It's notebook paper.

Edit: the initial reaction I haveto the word bridge conjures images of branching one thing to another. I don't instantly think of actual bridges. I think of things like books and telescopes. Things that bridge my world to some other time or place. If a book can be a bridge to another time, a kind of porthole, then I suppose a letter could be as well. Was just my warpped train of thought. I don't think anyone is getting old. Because I'm right up there with you guys. I think it has more to do with writing too many critical analysis papers on symbolism coupled with the fact that I'm way out there.

It was just my first thought and I had to give it a go. Maybe, it wasn't as successful as I would have liked it to be but it was nice to express my thoughts without words for a change.

I liked it, I still like it, and I like the way you think.

I love the symbolism and the photo. I toyed with the idea of a phot bridging the gap between generations, but haven't come up with anything yet. Mother's day is tomorrow, and we are off for a visit. Might have something when I get back.
