This was taken near the end of the Korean war. My dad was with the 1st Marines at Chosen Reservoir. This is a photo of him (on the right) being recognized for his actions during the campaign. I don't have many photos of my dad , this is one of my most valued treasures.

that's awesome!!

you could probably clone out that fold, and print out a 'clean' version..it's not going over any faces, so it wouldn't be overly hard..

great picture! a shot showing a very honerable man, being praised for his efforts at war!

Bob, now that you've scanned the photo, I hope you've alsomade several copies of it on separate disks. Photographs are so easily lost or damaged beyond repair. I have a cousin who lost every last one of her family photos in a fire. Lucky for her, she had enough of us cousins to replenish her supply, but some of her photos were ones that none of the rest of us had. Those are the pictures that are gone forever.

With this photo you point out where the greatest value of photography lies. We can take artistic photos 'til the well runs dry, but fifty years from now, it'll be the snapshots stuck in an album that have the most meaning. "Sunset over Lake Misty Mudhole? Yeah, nice, but look atTHIS photo when good ol' Uncle Bob was nineteen!"

Thank you Vito and Barbara!
Barbara I really appreciated your comment on the greatest value of photography, that was very well put! I do have several copies of this photo and I have restored it using Corel along with most of the other family photos I have had passed down to me.

Thanks again!

Duty, honor, love of country, love of family....it's what we were; and, hopefully, when younger generations see photos like this, they'll know it's what we always must be. Thanks for sharing.

Great memorabilia shots. I agree with all that has been said. The origninal is a keeper as well as the excellent edit. As a former Navy man (1965-75) with two tours in Vietnam, I can well recognize the importance of this photo and others like it. Good work.

Bob, your restoration is seamless. With that kind of ability, you could go into the photo restoration business.
