hey bill :-D

gorgeous scene!

looks like a graduated neutral density filter would've helped you here..

that would block some of the light coming in from the upper portion of the shot, allowing a darker blue sky, and some more detail in the mountains..

Nice shot. I was there about two years ago and I think I know approximately where that shot was taken. However I don't remember the view of the Sisters being that clear. That's a shot for framing and hanging on the living room wall.

Thanks Cal,

I spent three days over on the dry side testing two new lenses, a Sigma 12-24mm and a Nikkor 24-120mm VR,with my D70. I got there the day after the last of the rainy weather moved on and the air was clear, the sky was blue, the high desert was green and blossoming and the mountains had 1 to 4 feet of new snow. This shot was taken with the Nikon 24-120mmfrom the road leading into Smith Rock State Park, near the Bus and RV lot.

Here's one taken with the Sigmafrom the central overlook on Thursday morning. The black spot above the West Wall is a Golden Eagle.

That second one for me is stunning Bill. Lovely big rocks and beautiful water.

Truly wish I was there!

Caroline.

I agree.
Number 2 is VERY nice. Looks like I have another place to visit this summer. :-)
