This is a great challenge! I have learned a lot about my camera's WB and plan on learning much more today. I took some pictures this morning because the situation presenting itself with the ants! The other picture is of a light bulb in my desk lamp. I have been trying everything. I must tell the truth that I did use the iphoto's editing to do things like sharpen and temp. control and others I forgot. But today I'm going back out and just using the camera settings. That's what I'm suppose to do, right?

Yep, you're right. No editing that affects color. Sharpening and contrast is OK. As has been said, this is an exercise to help you learn something about your camera.
