I was just heading out to the park when I passed a burning bus right in my neighborhood. Talk about morbid coincidence - here we get a fire-related challenge, and all of a sudden there's a bus on fire a few blocks from where I live!

I got a few really good shots, but I think this one is one of the better ones.

Good catch! Any details on what happened? Did you get any shots of the fire fighters putting out the fire?

Not sure what the cause was, but my friend said he overheard some people being asked if the air conditioning on the bus was running properly or not. Could have been related to that.

Here are a couple of the better shots.

That's a great series of shots. It shows the fire, the firefighters at work, and the aftermath. Your origninal shot of the fire shows a building or house close to the bus. Was there any damage to the structure?

Good work! Just another reason for keeping the camera close at hand. You never know when a photo opportunity will arise.

There are several houses and a dental office there, but none of them were in any way damaged. Just some thick smoke in the air nearby for about 1/2 hour.

Indeed, whenever possible I take my camera with me, even if just for that one shot opportunity. The only gripe I have is that my camera is kind of bulky. But then again, I didn't want a camera with a 1/4 inch lens! I have the KM Z3,which I keepin a large carrying case. My friend takes his camera in his pocket, but then again - it's a Canon Powershot A70 - a teensy less caliber camera than mine. Everything has its pros and cons.
