I don't know if this counts or not, but on my cruise a few weeks ago, the captain had all the crew stand on stage in front of a large audience as he introduced them. It was very dark, far away, and I had no ability to use a tripod, but I think I got a pretty good shot using my Fujifilm e550's ISO800 mode. Though I may have been able to do it at 400, 800 insured a clearer shot. For as much as 3MP is compressed, I can't believe it isn't uglier at ISO800. I don't know why 3MP files aren't any bigger than 2MP files. Anyways...

The purple cast isn't all purple fringing, as there were purple lights shining on them. Also, I decided not to crop for post, so ignore the lady's hair. :-)
Settings:

Very nicely done. At 1/15sec and very little motion blur. At first I didn't completely read you caption and was blown away by the stars in the background, then saw they were on a stage, nonetheless nice job.

What Selvin said...
This kind of stretching the topic a bit but I'll accept it since it gives the illusion of night. Nice shot.
