The challenge description did mention neon signs but nobody has done one, yet, so here we go. This is kind of a cheat. It was not night. It was heavy overcast, in the shade of a large tree and a dark background. Almost counts as night.

Minolta S414, auto.

I think even by your own standards this is overexposed right Cal? Please tell me I'm right so I can say I've learnt something.

Yes, you are correct. It is slightly overexposed. I don't know if you have ever shot neon before but it is very tricky to get the exposure correct. An instructor I had once said the best way to meter neon is to get as close to the sign as you can, meter on one of the tubes, lock the exposure, and then back up to the location where you want to shoot the picture. I didn't do that! I shot in full auto with matrix metering and the meter put too much emphasis on the background.
