A couple nights ago I was up very very late, just sitting by myself. When I saw this reflection of our Christmas tree in the window, it sent me straight for my camera. The color version just didn't capture what I was feeling like this B&W does. I know it seems strange, but just look at it. My only concern was the composition.

EDIT: might want to view this one in a new window so you can see where the image actually ends!

David,

The shot certainly qualifies. However to be truthful, the photo reallty didn't grab my attention and its not because I'm against BW. Perhaps its a bit too fuzzy and unclear or it could be that my aging eyes just don't get the picture.

D. F.

Looks like George Baily will be seeing Clarence the angel any minute now.

PS: I'm with selvin. Nothing is in true focus. Don't worry though Clarence is stopping by anyway.

It's probably not in focus because it's a reflection. I definately see what you see David. The mood is deep and touching. Maybe it's because I'm also an old movie buff and I'm use to seeing Christmas tree lights in b & W. :-)

I enjoy the photo.

It's nice to see you're thinking out of the box, so to speak. This image gives me the feeling of 'Christmas's Past'. This image also reminded me of an idea you could try...go outside and fill your frame up with the window. Focus on the window mostly and let the lights on the tree blur. You may come up with some really pretty specular highlights. I've seen an image done like this before and it was gorgeous!

Edit for: Oops...forgot to mention that if you try this idea, it should be mostly dark in the house with just the tree lights on. You'll need to experiment for proper exposure.

Happy shooting! :|

Good call Dale, can't wait for the yearly viewing. I like the shot David, not something you see in a photo everyday. I think I see something in the reflection....

Hope you don't mind.

Merry Christmas Everybody!!(I say in my terrible Jimmy Stewart voice)

That's Awesome Gocubs!! I realy hope David doesn't mind 'cause I think it's very nicely done. They don't over take the photo at all .... very subtle

Well thanks, but there are all kinds of problems with it, I only spent maybe 3 minutes on it. I am always leary of taking someones picture and changing it. I always delete them right away, but perhaps I should start asking beforehand?
