There is an area by the American River in Sacramento where people collect the stones on shore and stack or lay them out in different patterns. Whenever I go, there is a different pattern to see and photograph.

We've got a similarf practice here but it doesn't have to be by a river. Originally, the polynesians would stack rocks to mark sites of personal or religious significance. We've got copycats all over the place, I've got to find pictures of that somewhere in my collection.

Unusual angle that heightens the impact of the rocks. I would have personally preferred a bit more contrast and details in the texture of the rocks. Good work.

Cheers

Selvin - Thank You for your comments. I guess I should have opened up the shadow areas a bit. I would be interested to see your pictures that you mention. Hope you have a Happy New Year.

This looks somewhat like the trail markers (cairns) used to mark the rocky trail up to Delicate Arch in Southeastern Utah. Much of the trail is on solid rock so the only way to mark it is with piles of stones.
