Digicam,

This could have met the challenge in at least two levels, the first of course if the flag were displayed at home it represents one of its more endearing characteristics exemplifying patriotism.

For the second,I thought of a more metaphorical level. The returning armed forces men and women coming home from their expdeditionary work were always greeted of course by th flag. It truly repreesnted one of the most visible aspects of "Home."

Yes, for many, the sight of the Red, White and Blue means you are "home".

I can only imagine what my late grandparents must have felt as they sailed into New York harbor as immigrants early in the 20th centrury and saw the US Flag.
