Newbie member here.

Around here the two real signs of spring are the daffodils and the forsythia. We never got around to raking before winter, so all of the leaves are still around.

I hope you like... if not be gentle...first time "contest" poster.

I like the burst of green and yellow in an otherwise dreary brown and gray pre-spring image. I (not being any kind of expert mind you) think if the house was just a tad more blured it would of been a little less distracting. But that is probably nit-picking. Good image and keep them coming.

I really like this photo. My eyes were drawn immediately to the Daffodils. I think the exposure, depth of field, and color balance are perfect. I wouldn't chang a thing.

Incidentally, this is not a contest. These challenges are an opportunity to have some fun with your camera. They are also an opportunity to get you thinking and learning new techniques. They are also a chance to let others see your work and offer constructive criticism.

Thanks for participating. Hope to see more of your work.

Cal

I second Cal's view on this photo. Having the house recognizable adds to the interest of the photo for me. If the background were blurry enough to be generically brown, it would be less obvious that these flowers are, indeed, the "first fruits" of spring.

Thanks for all of the comments.

I was shooting with my 20D and the Tokina 12-24mm lens, and was right on top of the daffodils. I actually tried not to get the house in the picture for the reason mentioned by fofa, but didn't like the finished produce and liked this one much better.

This is a great board. Will try and participate as often as I can, as both a shooter and reviewer.

The house is just right and as mentioned before, the color combination is great.

Aloha and welcome.

This is a fantastic picture!! I love how you focused on the dafodils. The bright yellow jumps out of the picture at you and is accented but the dullness of lingering winter.

Very well done! Keep posting!

Thank you Rose.

Edit - Photoshopped photo deleted so it didn't distract from the original photo and theme.
