Wow! Normally I don't like the shadows in macros but in this acse I really think it adds to the impact.

A small quibble which you should take with a grain of salt, on my screen the shot seems to need a tiny more saturation especially the grasshopper. It could easily be an artifact of my laptop screen.

I prefer the second one, the out of focus and darker backgound makes the grasshopper stand out more.

Walter it's a toss up between the two shots.

I would give the first shot an edge but it's like choosing between two thoroughbreds.

Now that I'm using my monitor at home the grasshopper does a tad greener in both shots.
