This photo leaves me asking a lot of questions! It certainly meets the challenge. I am wondering if this is an older photo. The softness of the image seems more like the BW photos of the 1940s and 50s. However, the style of the barn indicates a more modern structure.

The picture is somewhat "busy" with the trees in front of the main subject, namely the farm buildings. I think that moving closer to the near fence and shooting between the trees might be better. Using the trees to frame the barn is another option.

Thank you for participating.

I really enjoy this shot. It makes me feel as if I'm emerging from the depths of the forest to see ahead of me the final 200 yards ofwhat was along journey home.

No it is a modern shot, but the square format gives it an old feeling. Here is a color version...a bit closer.

Meryl,

I found the color shot much more attractive than the BW. In the BW the trees detract too much from the visual appeal of the barn buildings. I think this is due to the fact that the trees do not frame the buildings as much as they obscure them.

Cheers

I prefer the colorversion also....I like the cheeriness it conveys...farms always seem so cheery and full of life to me.... :-)

I actually like the first one better, to me, this is a view that a father, son and dog would see, Dad with his double barrel 20 gauge broke open over his shoulder and handful of pheasants, or rabits or squirrels, son(about 12 yrs old) with his .410 pump and the pooch still sniffing around for one last find. All ready to cross that rickety fence on the way home to Mom who is ready for the boys to get home with tonights supper. A timeless photo, thanks for sharing!
