Although I live in an urban area there is a man who keeps about 30 llamas in a field next to his house here in Grand Prairie. I chose this one, although I haven't a clue as to what features llamas find attractive.

I guess I'm confused. I thought llamas had a topknot of hair on top of their head and alpacas have a smooth head. We have a lot of alpacas in this area. I guess I'll have to have another look.

Nice photo of the alpaca--llama or whatever!

Cal

I don't know a llama from a camel, although there seems to be some similarities. I'm just going by the lettering on the trailer.

My bad! I was wrong. Alpacas are the ones with the head hair. Here are three that have been recently shorn but their head hair was left intact.

Deffinatly Llamas my neighbour has 3 of them to keep wolves away from the sheep.
They can give a very nasty kick if they do not like you. A very inquisitive creature,

Yes, they are Llamas, the Alpacas have hair (coincidentally I've just posted a couple of shots from an Alpaca farm here in Half Moon Bay). Great photo, by the way!
