I took this photo one day at lunch time. Bored to death, I decided to get my LZ2 after lunch and photograph architecture downtown San Mateo. Most pictures were never used (including this one). This building is a mix in terms of architecture, reason why I like it. It's top looks like a castle.

Tullio,

Are you considering the vertical lines of the building the vanishing point? I hope so, since I'm a bit perplexed where the vanishing point is located.

This shot has at least two vanishing points, both outside the border of the shot. One is on the left side and the other is on the right. As to the vertical one mentioned by Selvin, I don't see it.

Nice shot of the building and great perspective.

Thanks Selvin and Cal for commenting. As Cal suggested, the vanishing points are the horizontal lines formed by thewindows on each side of the structure (identical concept was posted by Cal as an example of a vanishing point). I think if I had taken the picture from belowstanding next to the buildinglooking up, then the windows would most likely form a vertical vanishing point. I may just try that at lunch time today!

Tullio,

I had not considered the windows on the left until Cal mentioned it. Yes, now I see the effect. As for mythought the vanishing point that was the building's lines reaching upward is wrong now that I've actually drawn lines I can see where my assumption about the vertical vanishing point was wrong (red) and Cal's (blue) is correct.

I've got a wet noodle ready for my spanking.

Aloha

I do the same thing when I'm at work during the quiet times. It's amazing sometimes at what I can find to photograph! So far though I haven't found anything with vanishing points at work since I can't leave the building. It's nice to see you were able to find something with vanishing points! :G

StitchBabe, this photo was taken months ago. I did not go out looking for vanishing point to photograph (in fact, most of the shots I've postedto the various challengeswere not taken exclusively for the challenges. I simply happen to have them and they fit). However, I do want to go back and take another picture from a different angle to see what I can come up with. Yes, it's nice to be able to go out at lunch time...it helps breaking up the day.
