This is one of the entrances to Hollywood Theater, the main auditorium on the Pride of America, a new cruise ship doing the Hawaii circuit.

Very nice shot. Draws you right into the frame. Like the color/saturation.

Cal,

As Walter noted the colrs are nicely captured. Your flash is quite powerful to throw a light that far. I can see both of you reflected in the doors and your flash.

Nicely done with an indoor vanishing point.

Aloha

Lovely colors and dead on exposure. Excellent capture, Cal. Talk about color busy!

I really do like this photo, but for me it just dosn't capture the vanishing point objective, but like I said, that is just me.

Just about every line you draw on this picture creates a vanishing point (somewhere outside the picture). However, I do agree that every line also has a definite end within the picture.

Thanks, everyone for the kind remarks. The one thing that bothers me about this shot, it is not straight. I should have run the straighten tool in PSPX before posting it.

Regarding the vanishing point, remember that the vanishing point in any shot is implied or imaginary. The converging lines in a picture don't have to lead directly to it. They just have to point to it. Try extending the lines and you will see they meet somewhere beyond the center of the door.

I would not argue that the vanishing point isn't there, and I am not saying it does not meet the objective. For me (and it might be just me) it has a end, I look at it and don't think horizon. Not being argumentive mind you, just how it strikes me personally.

If the challenge had been named "Converging Lines", would you think differently. Selvin and I have discussed this and we agree that converging lines implies a vanishing point. It is not as obvious as when the lines extend out. However, any shot with converging lines implies a vanishing point. The vanishing point is not real. It does not exist. In all cases, it is implied.

As I mentioned in a response to Tullio in WalterC's Natures Turn thread. It is time to end this debate. Let us say that either interpretaion is acceptable and get on with the pictures.
