Took this shot today Eggborough bridge near Selby, the bridge goes over a canal.
The image has only been resized.

I know I posted a reply to this earlier but somehow it disappeared. I was curious whether or not the rail(?) on the left of the brdige wascurved. This was to determine whether or not the view we see of the apparent vanishing point was due to a natural curve in the bridge rail or due to a vanishing point perspective?

The road qualifies as a vanishing point.

The shot is wonderful focussing on the detail of the bridge rail. This makes it a notch above a documentary shot.

Thanks for sharing, aloha

Nice shot with good colors and composition. The cloudy day must have been a big help in terms of exposure control. In a sunny day, the white bridge wouldeither have been over exposed or other parts of the photo would have been under exposed.

Thanks for the reply, yes the bridge did arch slightly, this bridge is no longer used for traffic the new bridge runs along side it but does not have the character of the old one.
The cloudy day helped considerably.

You[ve got a vanishing point with the road but I can't figure out the bridge. Obviously the steel structure is a supporting structure but I don't see the rest of the bridge. I can't tell if the road is passing over the bridge or if the bridge is to the left and behind the steel structure. Perhaps a different angle would show it better.

The road is passing over the bridge; the other part of the steel structure is out of shot over to the far right.

I did not take a shot square on as I got carried away with the forums challenge.

In this shot to the right you can see part of the other side of the bridge, hope this helps Cal.

Thanks again
