shot with my 30D and Sigma 80-400 at 400mm, from about 6 feet away (minimum focusing distance for that monster!)...

The near side of the flower is a bit fuzzy but the rest is really sharp. The film you are using must really like blue!! :?

i think the near side is soft because i was too close for my 400mm lens to focus properly... the flower was about 6 feet away, and since i'd left my 24-135 macro at home, i had to use my 80-400 as a "close-up" lens. the breeze was blowing, and i had to try to gauge when to snap the shot...

Squirl033,

In saw this photo along with the rest of your macro flower shots and was quite impressed. Occasionally, blue throws my cameras into fits and blue looks almost purple.

Yes, I've also had to resort to telephoto to gte the equivalent of a macro espcially when I cant get a macro focus on my Minolta A200.

Nice job

Aloha
