In most of the world's major religions there is the expectation that believers should gather periodically to worship, commune, study, etc. I looked over at my TV remote today and had this idea regarding technology and theology.

I thought I'd go to church today

With other members pal-in'

I'd have to travel quite a way

Gas is three bucks a gallon

I thought I'd go to church today

Whatever should I wear?

Got clothes for work and clothes for play

But none for song and prayer

I thought I'd go to church today

My wife had an objection

"You'll leave again", I heard her say

"When they ask for the collection"

I thought I'd go to church today

While lounging in my briefs

TV remote beside me lay

That suits my weak beliefs

I thought I'd go to church today

I drove by Sunday morning

Seems everybody stayed away

Black wreath the door adorning

I thought I'd go to church today

But all are shuttered tight

Believers found another way

But it just don't seem quite right

The poet laureate strikes again. Very interesting. If you push that menu button, does the sign change? An unusual idea, well executed.

Thanks, Cal. What I found interesting was that there were no times listed for any of the church's activities. I pass this sign often and have never seen it blank like this. Thus, it fit my theme perfectly, don't you think?

Walter,

I think they have a hidden agenda.

Lovely idea.

That's been such a pleasurable impact acquired by the coherence of poetry and photography which made me reconsider the link between arts. Well, anyone who has an ear should listen and anyone who has an eye should see..Thanks for sharing, Walter.

Very nice concept, illustrated nicely with your photo. We have in our midst our very own Shel Silverstien!

Thanks, all

Go Cubs:

Such lofty company deserve not I

I'm the ice cream, but he's the pie

And yet its fun to be someone

To rhyme with wit and wry
