Flying into Detroit Metropolitan-Wayne County Airport on 9/19/2004 to pick up the Ryder Cup European golfers. Minolta DiMage Z1, 1/250 @ f/5.6, 86mm (35mm-equiv). Taken from an elementary school parking lot about 3 miles from the airport.

Another very nice capture. Those airbuses are beautiful planes!

I love those red shrouds on the engines. You didn't say if you were using a tripod. In any case, a higher shutter speed might have yielded a slightly sharper image.

Handheld, Program mode. Not sure, but might have locked the ISO to 100 to keep noise down.

The A340-600 is kind of a rarity in the US and I was lucky to have caught it--less than a minute after I arrived at the school, it flew over.

Tom.

I'm impressed that you and the the Dimage Z1 were able to do a decent job given the tough lighting with the sky as a backdrop.

Yes, even with the anti-shake it was tough for the Z1 to fully compensate.

The Z1 doesn't even have anti-shake. I have to be careful about breathing while I shoot...
