We just bought the Canon as our first non-P&S camera. My wife is struggling with the fact that the lens capisn't attached to the camera.

Does such a thing exist?

Yes, there are several types. Here's one at Adorama http://www.adorama.com/LNCL13.html?s...&item_no=1

B&H has the CapKeeper II http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search

And the CapKeeper I http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search

Usually the cord has either a quick-disconnect or plastic tie that goes onto the camera strap attachment point. The other end usually attaches to the camera lens cap with manufacturer appliedpeel and stick heavy duty foam tape. Costs between $3 to $5, depending where you buy it. Ask at a local camera shop if there is one near you.
