Parafocal zooms are the one that will maintain focus while zooming -> i.e. you can zoom in to check for accurate focus then zoom out to recompose

With varifocal zooms you need to set your camera for two buttons operations:
1. One to lock the exposure like you hint @ in your previous post
2. One to lock focus after zooming out
... otherwise the focus will change as the lens is zoomed back out
