Wow. Sounds pretty sweet... Just wish I could afford/justify it.

Just 1 pick - IMO they should look at how other manufacturers implement the GUI on the rear LCD... We just don't realize how awkward this is until you try somebody else

jim, I am a current rebel xt user and considering jumping up to the 40D. Assuming I am using good glass (70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM) will I see any noticable improvements to my shots or am I wasting money by upgrading? I shoot mostly (and lots of it) girls softball for several local schools

The price is really coming down on these but its driving up the price - and for some reason the black seems very tough to get.

I've seen these new on respectable camera websites for $517, body only

They were actually sold out of the black but I got a factory reconditioned one for $50 less - which covered the cost of the CF card I needed as well

The reconditioned ones come and go on the Adorama website

Also I saw Staples has a good deal on a new XTi this week - including a lens - for $599. I'm sure the advent of the 12 megapixel is driving that cost down.

I'm amazed at what great pictures this takes - the colors are much more vibrant than even in real life - though the main draw of the upgrade from 8 to 10 megapixels from me was the automatic sensor cleaining that the Xti offers and the 8's do not (I've heard some stories of people with a bit of dust on their sensor always having a spot on their pictures)
