Default EOS 300D: Stop-Down AE?

It isn't listed. I see Dof-AE, Manual, AP-AE, SP-AE,
Program, Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-Up, Sports,
Night-Port and no-Flash, but no SD-AE.

Is it left off as a differentiator vs. other 'Ds?

Or does the camera automatically use stop-down AE
if the mounted elements lack EF readbacks? Or
does the camera lock-out with no EF lens mounted?

I used to use stop-down quite a bit on the A-1,
with 500mm mirror and a Bushnell spotting scope.
I still have the scope, and it would be nice if
it worked (with an EF mount kit, or FD-EF adaptor).
