Default Canon Digital Rebel and Olympus FL-40 flash?

Can these two work together? The FL-40 flash is TTL but I can't seem to get it to work with my new Digital Rebel.

they don't like to play nice together. each company has there own way of syncing between camera and strobe. did you notice the contacts probably don't match either except for the center?

if you want a strobe to work with your rebel you have to find one that supports E-TTL. that would be the EX models from canon or 2 models from sigma that i know of so far. your strobe must support a digital sync. canon EZ models will not work.

Actually the contacts do line up, but like sjms said they don't speak the same language: http://www.stevesforums.com/phpBB2/v...729&highlight=

... you just have to put the Digital Rebel on manual and the FL-40 on Auto!
