Heck, I may as well buy the Canon 420 EX.
I just received a Sunpak PZ40x for my 300D and so far I am pleased. It is a true ettl with a manual over ride. The GN is 40 in meters (the 420 ex is 42 in meters) and 132 in feet. It is about half the size and weight. Time will tell.
