Default Camera Purchase Assistance

I am looking to purchase my first digital SLR camera and am in need of some advice. I have narrowed my search down to the following Canon cameras:

Essentially, I would like to know if I should value the T3 highest since it has been released the most recently, or if the features of one of the later models (T2i/T1i) outweigh the T3. And if so, is it worth the on average $150-200 more to purchase them?

Essentially, what is your rank order of these three cameras? Thank you in advance for the help!

Welcome to the forum.

In terms of still image quality, there won't be a big difference between any of them.
For shooting video, the T2i has a clear advantage.

I'm a happy T1i owner. It is a great camera for shooting stills. The
lack of an external mic socket makes it almost useless for shooting
video. The high resolution LCD display of the the T1i and T2i is a
big upgrade from previous models.

You should be able to get a good discount on a T2i. Since the launch
of the T3i, T2i prices have been falling steadily.

I would go for the T2I, Yes I own one but have played extensively with the 3 and haven't found any REAL reason to upgrade yet and as corkpix above said, the prices are coming down in some places.

the difference between the t2i and t1i is a little difference sensor, where the newer t2i sensor is a bit cleaner at 3200 and 6400iso respectively. But you really do not want to shoot pass 3200iso really for any aps-c camera. The other thing is HD, the T2i is the better HD system for 1080p. And there in a very slight bump in burst rate for photos.

The AF system of all the T's are the same.

If HD is important the T2i is the better camera, but if cost is an issue, and you are looking for photos improvement, the T1i is an excellent camera.

hi the t3i is a nice camera and does add a couple of features like swivel screen and wireless flash but if you don't need these then t2i is the best buy IMHO. good luck
