I am looking to purchase my first DSLR camera. I am looking at the T3 or T1i. I have read the reviews, but which is better for the buck?

I'd go for the T2i or T3i. Amazing performance for the money.

If you have the budget the T3i is a very good camera, it is cleaner pass 1600iso. If you are going to do video, the T3i is allot better.
But if you do not want to spend as much, the T1i is a very good dslr. And takes really good photo. And form 100-1600iso, you will not notice any iq difference. 720p HD is good on it.

The T2i was a big step up from the T1i because of the sensor, low light capability, and the video capability. The T3i was a small upgrade, so the T2i has the best bang for your buck. The T3 is a watered down version, in a different class entirely.

Thank you all so much for your information. Now looking into T2i. Went to BB to look at and feel. Looks like it could be a great deal. Now to find where I can get a great deal.

Found a site where the price difference b/w the t1i and t2i is only $60.00. Is it worth the difference to get the t2i?

depends, if you want video. The t2i shoot better 1080p. For low light shooting with out a flash or a big aperture lens, then T2i is better above 1600iso. But personally I try not to shoot past 1600iso for regular stuff. The only time I shoot up at 3200 and above with my 60D is for indoor swing dancing. Where I can not use a flash.
For regular stuff, I would go with a flash. You get much better results then high iso and big aperture lens. I would put that 60 dollars toward a good external flash like a nissin di622 or a metz 50 AF-1. The metz in nicer but more money.
