G'day mate

Well I have had a sqwiz at your Flickr images - and yes, they look okay to me
You have certainly got very good detail in the eyebrows!

I hope that you are happy with your "new toy" ~ and keep your missus happy too .... I find with mine that a restaurant meal every so often lets me keep playing with my toys

So what's the verdict?

If your only criterion is how the images look online at lower resolutions, then any camera can do well at that. But your images viewed at their original size show a lot of image noise, which is most obvious in the out-of-focus bokeh where the only thing that is sharp is the noise.

At lower resolutions, the noise is averaged out in the downsampling process.

Also, according to DxOMark, the 70D has about the same level of noise as the 60D and 50D that preceded it. What the 70D does have is the 20MP sensor that the earlier models don't, and increases in resolution tend to make noise less obvious.
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.
  • "One good test is worth a thousand expert opinions." - Tex Johnston, Boeing 707 test pilot.
