Default New 760d now battery issue when using Sigma lens

Hi, just upgraded from a canon 550 to a 760. Now I have two problems when using my Sigma lens.
1. From time to time the lens doesn't get recognised, no error message though
2. The battery is dead after couple hours even without using it and switched off
I already sent it in for checking at the store I bought it but the issue is still the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks Matt

Have you tried leaving it for several hours without the lens attached ? Is it still draining the battery ? If so, that would rule out the lens being linked to the drain issue- and as such, the store would be getting it straight back...
As for the occasional lack of communication between lens/body- check/clean contacts on the body/lens. That may help....

Hi Simon
thanks for your hint. I tried with my standard kit canon lens and it works, I cleansed the contacts of my Sigma glasses and so far so good. I was wondering what I am supposed to do if it would not work... I assume this would not be a warranty case for Canon and changing to Canon lens is not really an option.
Will let you know if I face further issues...

Hi community
I was hopefully as for a couple days my EOS 760 worked well with my Sigma glass but today I had the same issue, battery empty and lens not recognised plus live view does not work. All this does not happen with the standard lens.

What options do I have:
1. return the camera (try warranty or a being not compatible-story)
2. get Canon lenses
3. fix it but how?

What is you advise...
Thanks

G'day Matt

Give the entire collection - camera - lens(es) - battery & recharger - to the shop for their techo to play with for a week, and let the techo work out what's going on

Hope this works
Phil

It would seem the issue is the Sigma lens...
Is it under warranty...?
