In addition to the lens that came with my Digital Rebel, I am utilizing a SIGMA 28-200, which functions beautifully. I am thinking of upgrading to the SIGMA 28-300, but I have seen a couple of threads on the Net that say people are having issues with this lens and the Rebel. I do not know if they are shooting with an older model lens and just need the microchip upgrade. Anyone have any success or feedback on this lens/camera combo? Thanks very much.:|

I'm not sure, but I would like to know as well. I am also looking at that lens.

All Sigma lenses manufactured after the year 2000 do not have a compatibility problem... You only run into re-chipping on the "used" markets: ie if you buy the lens new you are safe (and covered by the warranty).

BTW all Sigma ultrasonic (HSM) lens are fully compatible regardless of date!
