Default Waiting for the D60

So they tell me the D60 is being shipped.
I pre-ordered a while ago. I understand limited volume. Need to hear that some folks are getting them. It would be encouraging.

The info on the camera sounds great.

Waiting impatiently.

Ordered from Penn Camera (pre-paid in full gets you to the top of the waiting list) in Rockville, MD. on May 22. Shipped May 29 and arrived June 3rd. It's a GREAT camera!

Default Pre-paid D60 orders

I called Helix and Penn as recommended by others on this forum. At this point in time, even if prepaid, the waits are currently 5-6 weeks or more. Those of you who acted in April or May were fortunate to have timed it right! At this point in time Ritz (which doesn't charge your credit card until D60 shipped) and most of all the others, (Beach, Tristate, B & H, Cameraworld) all have 4-8 week waits, prepaid or not. If anyone hears of a quicker alternative, please let me know. Best wishes to those who are already shooting with the D60.

I ordered from Ritz 5/21 with 6/20 delivery quote
Weekly it gets pushed out on their online order status.
Latest quote: 7/18

I called yesterday just to get some peace of mind and the friendly associate informed me not to pay too much attention to the date. Everytime they get a shipment in they fill as many orders as they have cameras and then push the rest of the dates out by a week. Doesn't make too much sense, but she told me they have no idea how many cameras they will receive some times 8 othertimes 80.

I was a little perturbed that she couldn't tell me how many orders were ahead of me--she said they would have to count them by hand...I was willing to wait

I'm excited and have even started putting together my digital tool kit.

FYI I just got a 1GB microdrive from Samy's camera $219 after rebate (comes w/a Zeo card reader and a PC card adapter)

Best of luck to all the "waiters"

Default Ritz D60 orders

Yes, cbfount, as you and others have noticed, the estimated date of shipment when you check your order online has nothing to do with reality of when your particular camera will actually ship. If you check on 6/18, it says ship date wil be 7/18. Go ahead and check today 6/20 and I bet the date of shipment now says 7/20.

What we all want is just an honest estimate, even an honest, "we don't know." Everyone waiting for this camera knows it's back ordered and popular. Yet Ritz trained its sales techs to be aplogetically obsequious to the point of condescending. I for one am tired of getting these effusive email apologies about the camera not being in stock yet. I'm just looking for a ball park date if I ask when it will actually be ready for shipment.

Bottom Line: We all know there's a wait. Just update as honestly as possible, and get rid of the computerised, automatic, ever expanding outward date of delivery on the page when we log on to Ritz check order status.
