Hi I was wondering how the 20D handled real long exposure night shots. say for 10mins or more. Does the noise from hot pixels all but ruin the shot.

Try this little application called deadpixeltest:

Before doing the test (follow their procedure) set long exposure noise reduction to "on". With my 20D I do not see any dead pixels at all, but have several hot pixels at 30s, even with long exposure NR on. I didn't try the test for 10 min, but I suspect I would spot many more if I did.

From my 30s test I can see that any remaining hot pixels could most likely be Photoshopped out. With NR off there would be way too may hot pixels to even try.
