has anyone used the Sigma 28-300 lens? Any good for a general walk-about lens?**Thanks,**Allan

that lens is a bit on the soft side.. and with the crop factor of digital, its going to leave you wanting a bit more wide angle..

a better, and sharper/more contrasty option would be sigma's 18-125 DC.. wich will equate to something comparable to 28-200 with the crop factor.. this lens is a terrific value..

I'd agree with Hards...it's not a bad lens by any means, but I wasn't very impressed by it either. I looked at it before getting a 70-300. It's light and small, which is really nice and the pic quality is relatively good, probably ok for most uses.
