having just come back from canons little show at the javits center i would say that they're getting fairly high on the FF concept. they a pushing the 5D real hard there and the FF concept. since they do have a fairly commanding lead over the other manufacturers i think they will use this as there strike point and are going to run with it to the goal.
having handled the 5D just for a short time its going to make the big kill in the wedding small studio market without a doubt. one does not need a 8fps camera to do weddings nor will a 8mp camera suffice in a portrait studio with this out there now. there is an image quality difference. since it was a well controlled show and it was not officially out and firmware was beta i was requested to not output images from the body for publication. i can say that the output is equal to the 1Ds. promo prints and computer closeup images. noise was excellently low to nonexistent at high iso (yes better then a 1Ds). for the price (~$3300) in this world a bargain.

on/off delay miniscule.
AF in low light at iso 1000 using the 24-105 f4 good enough for me and we are talking low light with dark curtains in the hall.

thank god they pulled off that pop up flash.

as to the 24-105 f4. its now on my list of "to buy"

I handled a 5D at a Photoshop seminar with Rick Sammon last Sunday. The one the Canon reps had there had a 17-40 f4L mounted on it. I use that lens on my 10D now and had forgotten how darn wide that lens was on my EOS 3!

I see a 5D or a later version of it down the road in my future. Sooner the better.
