Default D30 - why has it been discontinued ?????

Why has canon taken this camera out of production, rather than re-market it at a lower price ?

Canon's current absence from the $1000 ish prosumer line up could surely be filled by a reduced cost D30 - and blow all the competition away in the process.

Felt the same when Olympus ended the 2100. 12 month cycle and gone. I remember about 1995 when no new and exciting changes to computer performance and bing, Black cases, black monitors everything else. Also remember in Europe mid 80's no snow there or stateside thought big blow out sale. nogo skis back to manufacter, top skins removed and replaced to look like new model. New is what drives the money train, maybe some day great products will.

The reason is it probably can not be made cheaper than what it is right now, and pricing it @ $1000 will only take money out from the D60. Remember they are all in the business of making profit and give-away the camera is not part of the equation unless they can make money by selling services contracts instead like the cell phones business...
