I keep hearing people talk about how the rebel xt doesn't have a spot meter. I was wondering if this could be introduced into the rebel xt using a firmware upgrade or does it require something else. I think my old canon A95 has spot meter in it, so I don't know what the problem could be. if this sounds stupid sorry )

Shouldn't be such a big deal but canon for some reason wants to offer the spot meter only in their 1-series digital bodies.

Actually, it might be a big deal. It might require a smaller sensor that is more accurate. It might be a more expensive part.

Now, since Nikon has been putting one in their consumer grade cameras for many, many years (since before DSLRs) it can't be that expensive!
